larence Edward Cleaver, "Ed", a 68-year resident of Annapolis, MD, died on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Anne Arundel Medical Center of a cerebral hematoma. He was 96.
Born March 10, 1920, in Weleetka, OK, to the late Willie Clyde Cleaver and Atha McKinney, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy and Coast Guard and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Ed was employed with the Department of Defense. He was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed traveling.
Ed was the beloved husband, for 63 years, of the late Anne Ilikas; father of Ronald Cleaver of Fairfax Station, VA, Stewart Cleaver of Greenville, SC, Kenneth Cleaver and his wife, Haila of Davidsonville, MD and the late Mary Cleaver; brother of Monell and the late Eloise, Imogena and Bonnie; grandfather of Will and Marianne Cleaver. He is also survived by one great-grandchild.
A graveside service with Navy honors will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 11:30am at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD 21032.
