laude Leroy Dixon, 89, of Easton, MD, died on November 7, 2012, at his residence. Born on June 16, 1923, to the late McCoy L. and Emma E. Dixon in Gaffney, SC, Leroy served in the US Navy during WWII, along with his 8 brothers who all served in different branches of the military. After the war, Leroy worked in real estate as a builder and and developer. He was a member of Mayo United Methodist Church and was a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Mayo. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, gardening (taking cuttings and propagating new plants), and watching sports, especially when his grandchildren were playing. Leroy was preceded in death by his former wife, Hattie, and eight brothers; Eugene, JV, Grayson, Julian, Johnny, Clarence, Oliver, and Dean. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Catherine Dixon; one son, Bert LeBow (Tammy) of Mayo, MD; three daughters, Beverly Hanners (Chuck) of Owings, MD; Janet Ward (Richie) of Mayo, MD, and Gail LeBow of Easton, MD; one brother, Bill Dixon of Marion, NC and 9 grandchildren, Ann Newton (Rex), Amy Dick (Mark), Morgan Hanners, Brenda Oppong (Issac), Katelyn Auld (Brad), Richie Ward III(Laura), Michael Ward, Amber and Eric LeBow and 11 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to Leroy's Life Celebration on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd. Edgewater, MD, where his funeral will be held on Thursday, November 15 at 9:00 am. Interment will be at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Dr., Easton, MD 21601.
