bituary Clementine Franks Taylor was born September 19, 1934 in Pollocksville, North Carolina to Leah Mills Franks and the late George Dewey Franks. She entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, January 28, 2012 with her family by her bedside at the United Medical Center. Clementine was educated in Jones County Public Schools and graduated from Jones County High School. She continued her education at North Carolina Central University in Durham where she pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and earned a BS in Business Education in 1956. She began her career as a Business Education teacher in Roanoke Rapids, NC. She later moved to Washington, DC and worked for several Federal Government agencies before retiring from The Urban Institute in 1997 after almost 20 years of service. Clementine met the love of her life, Robert Lee Taylor, in early childhood. They began a courtship after college that led to marriage. The two were married on July 7, 1959 and to the union four children were born – Robert (Donna), Karen, Claire, and Steven (Sandra). They shared 52 years of love and companionship that included many trips with the children. Clementine was an avid reader, active member of the North Carolina Central Alumni and an active member of East Washington Heights Baptist Church. As a member, she served as a deacon, a member of the Sanctuary and Fifth Sunday Choirs, president of the Fellowship Class, chair of the music board. She leaves to celebrate her life and memory her husband Robert L. Taylor of the home; children- Robert (Donna) of Gaithersburg, MD, Karen and Claire of Washington DC and Steven (Sandra) of Waldorf, MD; her mother Leah Graham of the home; three brothers – Kenneth Chadwick of Capitol Heights, MD; Christopher Simmons of Pollocksville, NC and George Franks of Durham, NC- one sister, Margaret Richardson (deceased)and one sister-in-law, Jeanette Anthony of Kinston, NC; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to Clementine's Life Celebration on Friday, February 3 from 10 am until time of service at 11 am at East Washington Heights Baptist Church, 2220 Branch Ave., SE, Washington, DC. Interment Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
