Consuelo A. Buchanan "Connie" - Obituary

onsuelo “Connie” Anne Buchanan, a resident of Odenton, MD since June 1960, died peacefully on June 11, 2026 at 11:11 pm, surrounded by loved ones. She was ten days away from celebrating her 98th birthday. Connie was born in Beloit, WI on June 21, 1928 to the late Thomas and Gila Munoz. She worked as a medical secretary and married Willard B. Buchanan, an active-duty United States Navy service member; later, a government contractor at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. They celebrated an incredible 58 years of marriage before Willard’s passing in October 2011. While raising three sons, Donald, Robert and Thomas, and a beagle named Dutch, Connie worked as a Cafeteria Cashier at Arundel Middle School. She was also a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved cooking and baking, and no one left her house hungry. Her family’s favorites include her tamales and chocolate chip cookies that she often sent in care packages. Connie is survived by her brother, Angelo Munoz; her two sons, Robert and Thomas Buchanan, and four grandchildren, Sarah, Cara, Rachel, and Paul Buchanan. She was a cherished sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Connie's life on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 6 to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037, where Connie's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 11:00 am.
