Cynthia Eloise Yoko Parker - Obituary

C

ynthia Eloise Yoko June 28, 1991 – October 12, 2021 Born at home in Piscataway Maryland, Cynthia was the 8th of 9 children born to Christopher and Elizabeth Parker. The 6th of 7 daughters, she was a bold and creative child with a vivid imagination and flair for costuming. Homeschooled through 8th grade she graduated from Grace Brethren Christian School in 2009. She then studied Fashion Merchandising at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Richmond, graduating with a BA in 2013. During her time in college she spent a semester abroad in London at The University of Westminster. Achieving her goal of working in the fashion industry, she became the regional manager of four Current consignment boutiques in the DC area. Navigating a chronic illness imbued Cynthia with a peace and self-knowledge that belied her 30 years. This was only possible because she was filled with grace and strength from her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Cynthia, our favorite cynic, often wielded a powerful eye roll and knowing smirk, possessed the rare combination of bold honesty and loving acceptance. Fiercely independent, she had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. Still, she was deeply grounded and closely connected to family and loved ones. She was a trusted confidant and friend of each of her siblings, and many others. Her individualized attention and appreciation for each of her nieces and nephews made her an especially beloved aunt. Cynthia is survived by her parents, Chris and Beth Parker, her siblings Evelyn Moltumyr (Jon), Edelen Parker, Mary Lastowski (Kenny), Joe Parker (Kristi), Ella Niles (Nick), Virginia Rock (Mike), Janice Fine (Michael), Patricia Yalung (Jered), and 25 nieces and nephews.
