BASS' VIDEO TRIBUTE* Daisy Leona Godwin Bass, 88, died of congestive heart failure on January 17th at the Crofton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center where she was a resident for one year. She previously lived in Edgewater, MD for 47 years. Mrs. Bass was born in Wilson, NC, on May 11, 1919 to the late Celia Mae Bass Godwin and Preston Godwin. She married Robert Thomas Bass on November 13, 1937. As a farmer's wife, she worked all aspects of the farm while raising their three children. They later lived in Oak City, NC, before moving to Edgewater, MD in 1959. After moving to Edgewater, she worked as a clerk at G.C. Murphy in Annapolis, and also as a cook at the concession stands at Beverly Beach and Triton Beach in Mayo. She was a long time member of TOPS and KOPS of Birdsville. Through 2006, Mrs. Bass was an active m ember of the South County Senior Center where she enjoyed playing cards, singing in the choir, exercising and visiting with her friends. She loved to watch her beloved Orioles and NASCAR racing on TV. She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert Thomas Bass. Survivors include one son, Robert Ray Bass of Charlestown, RI, and two daughters, Faye Sherbert and Florence Ingram, both of Edgewater; one brother, Jim Godwin of Bailey, NC, and two sisters, Cleo Hayes and Estelle Hill, both of Wilson, NC; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends may join in the celebration of her life at a memorial service starting at 1pm, Sunday, January 20th at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, in Edgewater. Visitation with the family will follow from 2-4pm at the Mayo United Methodist Church ,Old Turkey Point Road, Edgewater. Interment will be private.
