Dale Genevieve Hrebiniak - Obituary

ale Genevieve Hrebiniak, 76, a 40-year resident of Annapolis, MD, died on June 25, 2021 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born December 19, 1944, in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Walter and Sophia Greenhalgh, she graduated from St. Patrick's Grammar school, The Academy of St. Aloysius, and New Jersey State Teachers College. A Jersey girl through and through, she relocated to Maryland when the Army transferred her husband there in 1968. Dale worked as a teacher at Annapolis Senior High School, St. Mary's High School, enjoyed a long career at Old Mill High School, retiring from teaching in 2010. She is remembered by countless students as a strict but loving mentor who gave them a firm educational background. Dale loved spending summers at her little condo in Bethany Beach and, in retirement, spent two months a year in Sonoma, CA. Dale was a Baltimore Ravens fan and, she and Greg, were charter season ticket holders. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, music, dancing, watching PBS, and driving her Spyder sports car. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Gregory Hrebiniak; two sons, Adam (Abbe) Hrebiniak of Sonoma, CA and Joshua Hrebiniak of Baltimore, MD; a brother, Walter (Terry) Greenhalgh of Livingston, NJ; and a grandson, Hayden Hrebiniak. Friends are invited to celebrate Dale's life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Thursday, July 8 from 1 pm until her memorial service begins at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dale's name to Maryland Public Television, 11767 Owings Mills Blvd., Owings Mills, MD 21117.
