aniel Frank Wood, 63, formerly of Poland, passed away suddenly at his home in Edgewater on May 12, 2017, surrounded by family.
Daniel was born on July 24, 1953 in Herkimer, a son of the late Edward and Mildred (Frank) Wood. He graduated from Poland Central School in 1971 and furthered his education at HCCC. On July 16, 1978, he was united in marriage with the former Audette Dmitri.
Dan owned and operated Wood's Upholstery, formerly in Cold Brook, prior to moving to Edgewater in 1988. He then established his new business, Canvas Creations, where he specialized in custom marine canvas work for the past 29 years. Dan was an avid runner and enjoyed coaching high school sports.
Survivors include his wife of 38 yrs, Audette, two sons, Jared and Mitchell, and his mother-in-law, Carol Flaherty, all of Edgewater, MD; six siblings, Susan LeGacy, Charlotte, NC, Amy (David) Eckler, Poland, Melissa (Mark) Sheremeta, Manlius, Russel Wood, Poland, Laura (Rick) Salamone, Little Falls, and Leona (Tom) Cookinham, Poland; his father-in-law, Hank Dmitri; in- laws, Cheryl (Bucky) Flansburg, Mark Dmitri, and John Dmitri; an aunt, Betty Frank; several cousins, nieces, nephews, employees, customers and friends; and his adored pets, Lola and Bella. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Tom Wood; and his step father-in-law, Jack Flaherty.
Friends are invited to celebrate Daniel's life on Sunday, May 28 where his memorial service begins at 2 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Online condolences and tributes may be made by using the link on this page.
