Darius Terhon Cherry, Sr, “(Bae Bae) (Big D)â€, (39) of Bowie, Maryland departed this life on May 29, 2009 after a battle with cancer. Darius was born on December 5, 1969 to Willie O. Cherry and the late James G. Cherry, Sr. He was the youngest of the siblings (Jennifer, James Jr. (preceded him in death), Katrina and Keva). Darius enjoyed a normal childhood as a “spoiled but adorable baby brother and sonâ€. Darius graduated from Oxon Hill High School in 1987. Shortly thereafter he began his federal government career at the Security and Exchange Commission where he remained until he retired in 2008. Darius' oldest child Khial was born in 1991. Darius joined The Supreme Council of the House of Jacob on May 9, 1995. His church family enjoyed his sweet voice when he sang his favorite musical selections, “I woke up this morning with my mind stayed on Jesus†and “I've got joy like a river in my soulâ€. On August 9, 1997, Darius married Mary E. Jones and out of their matrimony Darius Cherry Jr., (age 9) and Arielle Cherry (age 7) were born. Darius was a proud father, devoted husband and loving son and brother. He enjoyed simple things and lived a modest and humble lifestyle. He enjoyed sports with his children, vacations with his family and family and friends gatherings at home. Until his illness he lived a full life that consisted of weight training, his love for automobiles and motorcycling.
