D

arlene Faye Muse, 63, of Edgewater, died July 30, 2010 after a two year battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 30, 1946 in Westminster, MD and moved to Annapolis in 1974 with her family. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Ella Mae Baurlien of Westminster. She was a Realtor with Re/Max for the past 13 years. She was a buyer’s agent and office manager for Kerry Muse Property Management. She was previously the Marketing and Composition Manager for Whitmore Printing and Imaging in Annapolis. She was also a licensed cosmetologist since 1970 and a notary. She was a graduate of Westminster High School in 1964 and worked for Baltimore News American in the Radio and TV Department. She also worked in the composition departments of the Carroll County Times and the Adams County Illustrated Press, before moving to Annapolis in 1974. She traveled overseas with her husband and was the office manager for the Seafood USA Exhibit at International Foods Shows in London, Paris and Cologne, Germany. She was past honoree for the YWCA TWIN Award, a tribute to women in industry in Anne Arundel County and was selected as one of the Outstanding Women of the year, by the Annapolis Chamber of Commerce and the YWCA. She was a member of the United Church of Christ and attended St. Matthews By-The-Sea Methodist Church at Fenwick Island, Delaware. While in the real estate business, she earned her GRI, Graduate of the Real Estate Institute; CRS, Certified Residential Specialist, and CBA, Certified Buyer’s Agent. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Kerry Muse of Edgewater; a daughter, Kelly Plantz and son in-law Robert Plantz of Edgewater; two sons, Todd Muse and daughter in-law Cindy Muse of Goldvein, VA and Chad Muse and daughter in law Elisabeth Muse of Hurlock, MD; a sister, Linda Gray of Reisterstown, 10 grandchildren and 7 nieces and nephews. She enjoyed boating and visiting Ocean City year round at their condo. She was a member of Herring Bay Yacht Club and the Chesapeake Power Boat Association. She was an avid reader of mystery books. She enjoyed swimming and playing with her grandchildren. She was a former Red Cross Life Guard at several Carroll County Public Swimming pools. Friends are invited to Darlene’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Wednesday, August 4 from 6 to 8pm and on Thursday, August 5 from 10am until her funeral service begins at 11:00am. Interment private.
