David N. David - Obituary

avid Nissim David, 89, of Annapolis, MD and formerly of Virginia Beach, Richmond, VA and Great Neck, NY passed away peacefully on March 23, 2022. Born in Baghdad, Iraq to the late Renee and Nissim David, he was forced to flee with his family to Bombay, India in 1941 due to civil unrest. He emigrated to the United States in 1947. David was the loving husband of Rhoda, married 60 years; devoted father of Jennifer (Steve) Hincks of Edgewater, MD, Pam (Dave) Stucky of Issaquah, WA and Valerie David of New York City; grandfather of Lauren, Stephen and Courtney Hincks and Sarah and Ally Stucky; brother of Yvonne Rakowitz of Great Neck, N.Y., Olivia Obadiah of Portland, OR and the late Denise Somekh. He held an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from Columbia University. David, a veteran of the Korean War, proudly served in the United States Army Chemical Corps and had a long career with Mobil Oil before going into retail ownership. David was deeply devoted to his family. He enjoyed family gatherings and treasured time spent with Rhoda, his children and grandchildren. His beloved Rhoda was his everything. David loved eating out—the spicier food the better—reading, traveling, theatre, attending Navy lacrosse and football games and sitting outside on his front porch. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 16 at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd., Crownsville, MD at 11:30am and a celebration of his life will be held immediately following at the Heritage Harbour Community Lodge and Clubhouse, 959 River Strand Loop, Annapolis, MD In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
