David E. Harris - Obituary

David Eugene Harris, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and deeply respected man of quiet strength, integrity, and unwavering devotion, passed unexpectedly on June 3, 2025, surrounded by the love and prayers of his cherished family. Born on March 25, 1943, in Reidsville, North Carolina, David was the beloved son of the late Eugene Harris and Eva Watt. He was preceded in death by his brothers Willie Harris, Robert Harris, and Clarence Harris, whose memories he carried with love and honor throughout his life. David is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Martha Harris; his loving children, Danielle Harris (husband, Franklin Ard), and David Harris, Jr.; and his cherished grandchildren: Kevin Harris, Keith Ard, and Kira Ard. He is also survived by his dear sister, Ann McCoy, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and cherished friends whose lives were touched by his warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit. David lived a life grounded in love, humility, and deep commitment to his family. For over 30 years, he worked as the manager of the meat department at Safeway, where he was known for his hard work, kindness, and strong leadership. Beyond his professional life, David was a dedicated real estate investor and successful businessman, building a portfolio of rental properties and always thinking ahead to create stability and legacy for future generations. David will be remembered for the way he made people feel—safe, seen, and deeply loved. His quiet presence spoke volumes. His love was steady, his guidance strong, and his legacy will continue to echo through the generations he raised and inspired. "And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run that readeth it." —Habakkuk 2:2 (KJV) Rest well, Dad. You did everything you came here to do - and more. Your love lives on in all of us. 🕊️✨ Relatives and friends are invited to David's Life Celebration on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745
