avid William Geoffrey King, age 80, a thirty six year resident of Davidsonville, died peacefully from cancer on Saturday, December 3, 2011 surrounded by family. Born in Southport, England to the late Samuel and Elsa King, David served in the Royal Air Force developing radar technology at the end of W.W. II. David spent most of his career in satellite communications and developing security systems for Homeland Security. He enjoyed cooking, was an avid reader, enthusiastic Liverpool soccer fan, liked woodworking and model building, and loved fishing.
David was a devoted husband and father who is survived by his wife of fifty four years, Rose E. King; four sons, Richard, John, Paul, and William; a daughter, Jacqueline Payne; four brothers, Michael King of York, England, Thomas King of Devon, England, Robert King of York, England and Jim King of South Africa; six grandsons, John Robert, Zyryll, Tyler, Gabe, Brandon, and Scott Payne; three granddaughters, Samantha, Nicole and Emily King.
Friends are invited to David’s Celebration of Life at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD on Tuesday, December 6 from 7 to 9 PM. On Wednesday, December 7 there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church starting at 10:30 AM followed by Internment at Lakemont Memorial Gardens which is also in Davidsonville.
