David E. Provost - Obituary

avid E. Provost, 78, of Edgewater, MD, passed away on May 15, 2016. Born on August 17, 1937, in Framingham, MA to the late Francis and Kathleen Provost, David pursued studies in engineering. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1956 to 1958 and continued as a reservist for six more years. David worked for the former Sperry Corporation before joining NASA in Greenbelt, MD. He was honored to have been selected as part of a team that developed a satellite data link at the South Pole which facilitated scientific data reporting back to NASA headquarters. In his leisure, David enjoyed fishing and working with wood. David is survived by his wife, Donna Provost; three sons, Daniel Provost of Texas, Patrick (Beth) Provost of Middletown, MD; and Michael Provost of Shady Side, MD; two daughters, Laura Provost of Annapolis, MD and Bethany (Ellis) Tinsley of Edgewater, MD; two brothers, Francis and Marc Provost; and six grandchildren. Friends are invited to a memorial gathering to celebrate David’s life on Saturday, June 4, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. David’s body was donated for research.
