avid George Shaw, passed away November 14, 2025 at Georgetown University Hospital. He was a native of Brooklyn, New York. He was 94 years old.
Graduated at St. John’s College and Columbia University in New York.
Served as LTJG Officer in the US Navy from 1955 to 1958. Later, as a Foreign Service Officer at the Department of State. He was stationed in the Dominican Republic, Italy, Ecuador, Uruguay, Honduras, Venezuela and Brazil.
David was a classical music lover since his earlier years and joined the National Cathedral Choir while stationed in Washington, D.C. He loved reading, traveling, bridge and languages.
He was married to Lira Mercedes Casal, a native of Guayaquil, Ecuador.
After retiring from the Department of State, he lived in Washington, D.C. enjoying afternoons with his German Shepherd dog and friends at the Battery Kimball Park.
A gravesite burial ceremony will be on Monday, November 24 at 11 a.m. at Congressional Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 4200 Harewood Road, N.E., Washington, D.C. 20017.
