David Sims - Obituary

r. David Rohon Sims, “Dr. Dave”, age 39, an 8-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of New Hyde Park, NY died on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. David was born on February 4, 1972 in Mineola, NY. He graduated from Adelphi University in 1995 with degrees in Biology and Psychiatry and from the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry in 1999. He was a self-employed Dentist and owner of South River Dental Care, PA. David was Pyrotechnics Guild International certified; he was also a certified scuba diver. His memberships included the American Dental Association and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater. He was a collector of classic cars and a koi pond enthusiast. He enjoyed landscaping, golfing, fishing and operating fireworks. David is survived by his wife, Karen R. Sims, whom he married on August 31, 2002; his one year old twins, Rohon and Evelyn; his parents, William and Donna Sims; and two brothers, William and John Sims. Friends are invited to David’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Monday, April 25 and Tuesday, April 26 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 27, at 10am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road, Edgewater, MD. Interment private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Evelyn and Rohon Sims Education Fund, c/o BB&T Bank, 80 Central Ave. W, Edgewater, MD 21037.
