David G. Stevenson - Obituary

avid Gordon Stevenson passed on July 10, 2021 peacefully at his home in Crofton, MD with his loved ones near. David was born at home in Vance County, NC to Henry and Lillian Stevenson on March 24, 1931. He graduated Macon High School as Valedictorian. After a short stint in the U.S. Army Reserves, David moved to Washington, DC at 18 years old and acquired a job in the US Capitol mailroom through Congressman Kerr of NC. He attended Strayer College and continued working for the Architect of the Capitol where he worked his way up from the mailroom, until he retired as Superintendent of the U.S. Senate in April 1986, over 37 years later. He is a free and accepted Mason, of the Grand Lodge of Springfield, No.217, a Methodist, the only President of USSIGA, (Senate Invitational Golf Association) for over 55 years. An active member of the Crofton Country Club for over 50 years, where he loved the golf game David also loved to travel with his wife Pat, especially cruises. In addition to his parents David was preceded in death by his brother, Wheeler. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; five children, Valarie, Gretchen, David, Briana and Kyle; eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
