D

avid Howell Stewart, 82, of Edgewater, MD, passed away on April 18, 2024. He was not just a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, but a unique individual with a kind, generous, and loving nature. His intelligence, sharp sense of humor, and often silly demeanor were the hallmarks of his personality, making him a joy to be around. Born on January 4, 1942, in Takoma Park, MD, David grew up to be a remarkable individual. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1966, qualifying as a sharpshooter and receiving the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal for his service in Berlin. David dedicated 30 years of his life, from 1981 to 2011, to the Prince George's County Department of Social Services. He excelled as a CPS Supervisor and Acting Bureau Chief, positively impacting the lives of many in the community. Outside of his professional life, David had a wide range of hobbies, including woodworking, gardening, reading, camping, bicycling, participating in half marathons, and volunteering with animal charities. He was also known to be a mischievous raconteur. David is survived by his wife of 43 years, Crystal Stewart; his daughter, Andrea Stewart (Lucas Page) of Edgewater, MD; his son, Jason Stewart (Lisa Gimbert) of Pasa Robles, CA; his best friend, David North; his sister-in-law Teresa Thomas; and many beloved friends and pets. He is preceded in death by his father, Howell Stewart, his mother, Margaret Stewart, and his daughter, Victoria Stewart. David's life will be celebrated at a service at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, MD, in the White Oak Pavilion on July 7 from 1:00-4:00. The family wishes a welcome to all that knew our David to attend.
