David McNantz Underwood - Obituary

avid Underwood, 71, passed away on February 17, 2025, in Prince Frederick, Maryland. Born on January 27, 1954, in the District of Columbia, David lived a life filled with love for the outdoors and deep devotion to his family and faith. He was a strong-willed man who found joy in hunting, fishing, and camping—activities that allowed him to embrace nature and share meaningful moments with those around him. Whether spending time in the wilderness or simply "hanging with the guys," he cherished every opportunity to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. David was a devoted husband to his wife, Sandy Underwood, and a loving father to Lisa Underwood, Shane Underwood, Carrie Underwood, and Chance Underwood. He was also blessed with several grandchildren who brought him great joy. His bond with his five sisters and brother remained strong throughout his life. He was predeceased by his parents, Catherine and Robert Underwood; his brother Mark Underwood; and his grandson Joseph Johnson. Beyond his love for the outdoors, David had an unwavering commitment to his family. He often stepped into roles he didn’t have to, offering guidance and support whenever it was needed. His strength of character and kindness made him not only an amazing man but also a true friend to many. Those who knew him will remember his generosity of spirit and steadfast faith in the Lord. David’s legacy of love and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing. Relatives and friends are invited to David's Life Celebration on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 12 noon at the KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, MD.
