Debbiné Sue Greenfield - Obituary

D

ebbiné Sue Greenfield (1957-2024) Debbiné Greenfield passed away during the early morning of February 26 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Debbine, known as Debi to family and friends, was born to Mary Jean Miller and Bryan Blain Hall, Jr. on February 10, 1957 at Hurley Hospital. She spent her childhood growing up in Flint, MI with her younger siblings. Debi met the love of her life, Patrick Greenfield, in 1979 at a Halloween party. Little did they know they would end up as husband and wife. Excited to start their new lives together, the two married in 1981 and had four beautiful children: P.J., Matthew, Nicole and Andy. Everyone who knew Debi knew how much she loved God and her family. She enjoyed gardening, painting, writing and being outside in nature. She was a lover of word searches and antiques. Debi was very connected to her rich heritage and ancestry. She made sure her children knew of the great traditions passed down through generations of family. She was always an outgoing, nurturing and kind-hearted soul. She loved singing her favorite gospel song "This Little of Light of Mine" to her students and family. Whenever her children or family would say, "I love you", she'd immediately respond right back with "I love you more." Debi was passionate about her role as an educator. She was an active member at Holy Family Catholic Church, devoting her time and energy as a kindergarten religious education teacher for 30 consecutive years. She was a woman of great faith and strived to instill her love for Jesus in her life. She was PTA President at Southern Middle and was an outspoken community advocate in southern Anne Arundel County for 12 years. Debi spent much of her time volunteering at her children's schools and church and was a selfless member within the local community. Debi was a friend to all who knew her. She spent much of her time planning surprises for her friends and family. She devoted her life to ensuring the happiness of others, especially her children. Those who had the honor of being her friend have all experienced her intense warmth, generosity and attention. We couldn't have asked for a better wife, mother, daughter and sister. Her memory will live in the hearts of all those who knew her. Debbine was preceded in death by her father, Bryan Blain Hall, Jr. and is survived by her husband, Patrick Greenfield; her children, P.J. Greenfield (Shaina), Matthew Greenfield, Nicole Greenfield, and Andy Greenfield (Alana); her mother, Mary Johnson; her siblings, Rhonda Hall, Bryan Hall (Carolyn) and Greg Voiles; her step-sisters, Carol Mendez and Paula Burner; and many nieces, nephews, uncles and countless other family members and in-laws. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Debi's life on Friday, March 1 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, March 2 at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035, with burial to follow in Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Debi's name may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
