Delores Epp Moran - Obituary

D

elores Epp Moran, 90, a 59-year resident of Edgewater, went to her eternal rest on March 31, 2016, surrounded by her children. Delores was born in Baltimore on May 30 (the real Memorial Day), 1925, to Philip & Bertha Mary (Therres) Epp. When she was 3 years old, the family moved to Gallant Green in Charles County, where she lived until her graduation from Notre Dame High School in Bryantown in 1943. She immediately went to work at the U.S. Naval Powder Factory in Indian Head to help with the war effort. After the war, Delores held several file clerk positions until she married the love of her life, Thomas "Tommy" R. Moran, Jr. on January 15, 1947. From that time until her death she was the proud mother of six; grandmother of four; great-grandmother of six; and recently welcomed her first great-great-grandchild in December 2015. Another career opened up for Delores when she became a school bus aide for Anne Arundel County Public Schools, a career that lasted for 17 years until she retired in 1994. Delores enjoyed working in her many flower gardens over the years. She also loved crossword and word search puzzles, watching her "soaps" and game shows, listening to the original real country music and going for drives in the "country." Her greatest pleasures came from being with her extended families every weekend and also watching Major League Baseball games on TV, especially her beloved Baltimore Orioles. She was a true fan through thick or thin since 1971. All who knew Delores will remember this quick smile and the giggle she had in her voice whenever she spoke. Delores was predeceased by her parents; her siblings, Edmund, Raymond, Philip, Agatha "Dolly" Epp, Mary Lou Adams and Betty Ann Watson; her husband Tommy (d. 1979); and three sons, Dennis, Mark & Chris. She is survived by her sister, Rosalie C. Epp of Waldorf; her children Thomas Ray Moran, Hughesville, Darlene Moran, Edgewater and Donna (Brian) Sherbert of Wye Mills; grandchildren Laurie (Le'Ron) Moran, Amanda (Jason) Baxter, Ashley (Gary) Baxter and Heather Sherbert; great-grandchildren Amber (Joshua) Parham, Aliyah Douglas, Olivia Lawrence, and Madison, Lilian & Camden Baxter; 1 great-great-grandson, Keagan Parham; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater 21037. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Rd, Edgewater 21037. Interment to follow at 1:45 at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Delores' name may be made to OLPH Building Fund.
