D

emetra Savvides "Jean", 89, a resident of Severna Park and previously of New Jersey for forty years, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 11 in Severna Park. Born on March 25, 1927 in Cyprus, Jean was a spirited lady, who devoted herself to her family and enjoyed many activities, including, cooking, knitting and traveling. She was a member of Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Annapolis where she was very active in the Philoptochos organization. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, John Savvides in 1994. She is survived by her children, Tommy Savvides of Gambrills, MD; Lucy and George Petros of Millersville, MD, and Andy Savvides of Odenton, MD; her grandchildren, John, Simeon, Andrea, Mia and Elisabeth Savvides, Demi (John) Padussis, Alicia (Brett) Stoutland, Joanna (Jason) Kafouri and Christina Petros, and five great-grandchildren. She was one of nine siblings and is also survived by her sisters, Sotirou Malacounides and Andrianou Michaelas both of Cyprus. May her memory be eternal. Friends are invited to celebrate Jean's life with her family on Sunday, January 15 from 4 to 8 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 16 at 10:30 am at Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Rd., Annapolis, MD. Interment will follow at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Cemetery in Annapolis.. The Family asks that donations in memory of Jean be made to Sts.
