D

enise Davidson Jenkins, a 20-year resident of Davidsonville and formerly of Cambridge, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on December 2, 2017. She was 67. Denise was born on November 4, 1950 in Cambridge to the late Wm. Eldridge and Ruth Condon Davidson She graduated from Cambridge High School, and then attended Prince George's Community College where she earned a certificate in Early Childhood Education. Denise began her career working at WCEM radio station in Cambridge, MD. In the ensuing years, she worked for the State of Maryland in different agencies including Eastern Shore State Hospital, Center for Environmental Studies, and the Comptroller’s Office. She then taught kindergarten at St. Mary of the Assumption School in Upper Marlboro, MD. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Middle River, MD. Denise enjoyed reading, cooking and traveling with her family throughout the U.S. and Europe. Denise is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Mark Christopher Jenkins; two children, Christopher Jenkins of Arlington, VA and Lauren Scaduto (Brian Scaduto) of Baltimore, MD; one brother, William E. Davidson, Jr. and sister in-law Frances; a niece and nephew, Donnie Davidson and Debbie Tapper who were more like her brother and sister; two other nephews, Kevin and Keith Davidson, and three great nieces, one great nephew, and one great-great niece. Friends are invited to celebrate Denise’s life with her family from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 7 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. A Memorial Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 8 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Greenbaum Cancer Center, University of Maryland Clinical Center, 22 S. Green St. Baltimore, MD 21201.
