Dennis Solar Samoy - Obituary

ennis Samoy passed away peacefully on April 4 at his home in Potomac Falls, VA. Dennis grew up in Fort Washington, MD and was a graduate of Oxon Hill High School. He honorably served 4 years in the US Air Force, then immediately launched into a 34 year career at CareFirst where he had recently retired and was thoroughly enjoying his newfound free time. Dennis had a passion for fishing and was getting into the game and obsession of golf. He loved sports, all of them. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of players, games and stats. He would rattle off a pro player's college records or a team's games from a decade ago at a moment’s notice. Den was always right. During games, he would call "holding" before the penalty flag was even thrown. Dennis loved his BUFFALO BILLS and NFL RedZone Sundays with his brothers. He always had "patience" for the hometown REDSKINS. Family and the friends that he made a part of his family were cherished by him; and cherished him in return. He was always there for special events, weddings, christenings, graduations, holidays. He never missed birthdays and loved to celebrate with us all! He was so proud of his children and was a devoted, loving father. Dennis is survived by his three children, Amanda, Tyler and Jessica, his brothers, Ab and Stef along with Lee Ann, Vida, Emily, 2 grandkids , 13 nieces and nephews, close family, extended family and friends. Dennis is now back in the loving care of his parents, Abelardo and Tessie as he begins his next life. Relatives and friends are invited to Dennis' Life Celebration on Friday, April 24, 2026 from 3 to 8 P.M. at the KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 OXON HILL ROAD, OXON HILL, MD 20745.
