D

ermot G. Rollison passed away suddenly Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Dermot was a devoted husband, father, friend, and teacher. He was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Mt. Ranier, MD. He was a graduate of Mackin High School, Marquette University (BA), and Trinity College (MA). Mr. Rollison was a teacher for many years in DC area schools, including Bishop O’Connell, Bishop McNamara, and the McLean School. He retired in 2009 and spent the last year enjoying many pursuits including painting, travel, and tutoring. Dermot enjoyed a wide range of interests and was active in many community and neighborhood organizations. He was a devotee of computer technology, beautiful music, gardening, and art. He also maintained a Rhinoceros Collection second to none. Dermot is survived by his wife, Margaret, son, Jeremy, daughter, Julia, many sisters/brothers-in-law, and nieces, nephews, and friends. Dermot is also survived by the thousands of students he positively influenced during his long teaching career. Friends may call at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD on Friday from 6 to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, August 28 at 10:00am at St. Columba Catholic Church, 7800 Livingston Rd., Oxon Hill, MD. Interment St. Mary's-Piscataway Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Oxon Hill, MD Library.
