NTERMENT IS SCHEDULED FOR 10 AM ON THURSDAY, APRIL 11, AT THE MARYLAND VETERANS CEMETERY IN CHELTENHAM, MD. A PROCESSION WILL DEPART FROM THE GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME AT 9:15 AM. Diane "Tickie" Jurik, 69, passed away peacefully on March 31st at home, surrounded by family. Born in Washington DC to the late Joseph and Marion Lynch, Tickie spent most of her childhood and teenage years in the Rock Creek Park area. She developed a pen-pal relationship with a Navy seaman named Neil Jurik and fell in love with him while he was stationed in Norfolk, VA. They married in 1965. Tickie was a longtime resident of Davidsonville and a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She loved her family dearly and had a true love for her Faith and her Country. Retired from the State of Maryland, Tickie spent her retirement doing what she loved most- taking care of her family, which she truly treasured. She is preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Chupp, and her brother, Kelly Lynch. In addition to her loving husband, Neil, she is survived by two sons, Kevin Jurik and his wife, Sandy of Huntingtown, MD, and Neil Jurik and his wife, Jennifer of Davidsonville, MD; her daughter, Stephanie Cannon and her husband, Buddy of Lothian, MD; as well as her three cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Rebecca and Lillian. Also surviving are her seven siblings, brother, Jack Lynch of Aldie, VA, and sisters, Jill Cocchiaro of New Carrollton, MD, M. Kay Greiser of Media, PA, Claudia J. McGowan of Grasonville, MD, Adelaide Lynch Summitt of New Baltimore, VA, Susie Frazelle of Gainesville, TX, and Donna Perkins of Calabash, NC. Friends are invited to Diane's Life Celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, April 5th, at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 6th at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035. Interment will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 11th, at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
