Dolores Sheckells - Obituary

olores Margaret “Dee” Sheckells, 83, a lifelong resident of South County, passed away on October 28. Born on February 23, 1932 in Annapolis to the late Salvador and Violet Hiponia, Dee loved spending time with her family, and looked forward to holidays, and Hiponia family reunions. Dee was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Sheckells. She is survived by five children, Donna Gezelle Norris, Cindy Gezelle Koch, Cherie Gezelle Lagana, Jimmy LesCallett and Bill LesCallett; one brother, Joe Hiponia and three sisters, Maria Pettit, Anita Pryor and Verna Radcliff; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Dee’s life from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 1 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 2 at St. James’ Church, 5757 Solomons Island Road, Lothian. Interment St. James’ Cemetery.
