olores Christine “Dee” Sutphin, 82, died of a stroke August 10 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland. Dee lived in Annapolis for over 60 years and then moved to Myrtle Beach, SC, and in 2005 due to health problems Dee and her husband moved back to Edgewater to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Dee was born January 11, 1925, in Baltimore, the daughter of the late Leland C. & Florence N. Noel. Dee retired from the U. S. Naval Academy in 1988 where she worked as a Secretary. Dee enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, doing crossword puzzles and playing with her companion Princess. During her time in MD, Dee was Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and Past Guardian of the IOJD Annapolis Bethel #49. In Myrtle Beach, Dee was very active in the Myrtle Beach Elks Lodge #1771 and was Past President of the Does. She became active in the South County Senior Center when she returned to Edgewater where she took Mind Agility and Craft classes and made a lot of new friends. Dee was always known for her beautiful smile and pretty gray hair. In December 2006, Dee became the widow of Hiram “Buster” Sutphin whom she had married in March 1983. Dee was previously married to Robert E. Marsh of Annapolis. Dee is survived by one daughter with whom she lived Sandra Lee Casey of Edgewater, one sister Myra Ebaugh of Arbutus, one stepdaughter Debra S. Cross of West River, one granddaughter and two great grandsons of Edgewater and one grandson. She was the sister of the late James Fletcher, the mother of the late Robert N. Marsh, and the grandmother of the late Robert P. Casey. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 15 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at Kalas Funeral Home 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Services will be held at 10 a. m. Thursday, August 16 at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery Forest Drive.
