Dominador H. Potes - Obituary

ominador “Dave” Potes, 88, passed away on November 14, 2021 surrounded by those he loved the most. Born on September 20, 1933 in San Nicolas, Tondo, Manila, Philippines, he was the third of five siblings. Dave entered the U.S. Navy in 1956 with multiple tours of duty including Monterey, California, Japan, and Andrews Air Force Base before retiring in November 1976. On January 24, 1967, Dave married the love of his life, Becky Beltran. Still enlisted in the Navy and with their children in tow, they travelled coast to coast from Hawaii to Rhode Island and Connecticut, finally establishing their roots in Ft. Washington, MD. Dave was a man of faith and family. An active member of the Church of Christ - Iglesia ni Cristo, he was a deacon and enjoyed spending time with his fellow brethren. He always instilled the importance of faith and membership in his 4 children. When not at church, Dave loved fishing, playing tennis, and dancing. He was a master at the yo-yo, making his young children wonder if he created it. He could always be found in his favorite recliner watching his stocks, boxing, or the Washington Redskins. He also enjoyed taking leisurely strolls around Andrews Air Force Base. But, Dave’s most cherished activity was spending time with his grandchildren. They were the joy of his life and always brought the brightest smile to his face. Dave is survived by his wife Becky, four children and their spouses, Deborah and Armelo Vejerano, Lynette and Michael Pagdanganan, Robert and Melissa Potes, and Richard and Roselle Aileen Potes, and his 7 grandchildren, Jeremiah Andrew, Colin David, Kaila Belen, Aeralyn Rae, Davian Rylan, Raiden Marcus, and Easton Lee.
