omna Janis, 91, a life-long resident of Annapolis, died Sunday, November 28, 2010, at the Heritage Harbour Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 19, 1919 in Morristown, TN to the late Nicholas and Frosso Bounelis.
Domna was a loving and devoted wife, mother and homemaker who touched the lives of all who knew her. She loved the city of Annapolis, the Chesapeake Bay and the Naval Academy. She worked for many years at the historic “Capital Hotel and Restaurant” owned by her father on Main Street in Annapolis. She was a volunteer at the former Anne Arundel General Hospital. She loved classic movies, music, walks through town and Sunday drives in the country.
In addition to her parents, Domna is predeceased by her husband, George, and brothers, Charles and Daniel Bounelis.
She is survived by her brother, George Bounelis; three sisters, Catherine Botts, Helen Sisson and Mary Mendis; two sons, Jim Janis of Lexington, SC and Philip Janis of Columbia and one daughter, Catherine Teske of Edgewater. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Daniel and Destiny.
Friends are invited to Domna’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037 on Thursday, December 2 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 11:30 a.m. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
