p style="text-align:center;">His life of kindness and service made a difference in Anne Arundel County.

Don Lee Rodkey, 83, a longtime resident of Annapolis, MD, passed away at his home on August 13th 2021 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Don was born in Lewistown, PA, and graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in education and received his master’s degree at Oklahoma University in geology. He served the Anne Arundel County public school system in positions of increased responsibility for over 38 years. His career began as a science teacher and progressed to Principal of Bates Junior High and culminated in his promotion to Director of Middle Schools for the county. His tireless efforts and calm and professional demeanor were instrumental in the remarkable turnaround in schools during challenging times and he will be forever appreciated . Following retirement he enjoyed overseas travel with his longtime partner, Monna Madron. In addition to traveling, he enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, and attending Navy football and Baltimore Orioles baseball games. He is remembered as an esteemed member of the community who always put his students, faculty, and staff first. He is survived by his love of 27 years, Monna Madron, his sons Steven Rodkey of Roswell, Georgia, and John Rodkey of Tallahassee, Florida, and his daughter, Pamela Hunter of Anaheim Hills, California, his sister Zee Raiser of King of Prussia, PA, William Rodkey of CO, and Jack Rodkey of Nevada. Mr. Rodkey has three grandchildren, Sidney Rodkey, Nathan Hunter, and Lexi Anne Rodkey . Please take a moment and leave a condolence for Don's family by using the tab on this page.
