Donald Edward Daily - Obituary

DONALD EDWARD DAILY (AGE 89) passed away on Saturday, April 20,2024 at August Healthcare at Leewood, Annandale VA. He was the beloved son of the late Seward Wells Daily and Gertrude (Card) Daily: loving companion Pat Seward; brothers Seward Russell Daily (Beverly Bankston) and Alan W. Daily (Amy) and sister the late Joanne Horton (Roger). He is also survived by niece Larissa (Daily) Winkler and nephews Norman E. and Gordon R. Daily and nephews Matthew R. and Mitchell A. Horton. Donald was born in Wellsville NY on Jan 24, 1935 and grew up in Genesee PA. He graduated from High School from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1953. He served 3 years in the Air Force. He graduated in 1961 from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute with a BS degree in mathematics. He was employed at the Army Map Service where he worked over 35 years as a cartographer including a 7-year assignment in Panama. His persistence and perseverance allowed him to excel in his field. He played in a senior softball league. He was an avid bowler and attended the USBC Open Championship for 48 years. He and Pat enjoyed these tournaments together. He loved traveling with Pat and ballroom dancing. His favorite dance was the Argentine tango. He loved ice cream and popcorn. Relatives and friends are invited to Don's Life Celebration memorial gathering on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 12:30 p.m. until the start of the memorial service at 1:30 p.m. at KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Interment private at a later date.
