Donald Hinton - Obituary

onald Hinton Donald E. Hinton, 84, of Edgewater passed away on April 20, 2015 at his residence. Donald was born in Washington, DC on October 27, 1930 to the late Thomas and Isabel Hinton. Donald met his childhood sweetheart Betty when he was 14 and they were soon married and enjoyed many years until her death in 2005. Donald worked as an electrician for the local IBEW. Throughout his life Donald enjoyed tinkering, building and creating things. He built his own home as well as the home of his parents. Donald was a closet philanthropist, making donations to needy causes without any self acclaim. Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Betty; and his son, Donald Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Chambers of Boynton Beach, FL; his grandchildren, Chris (Danielle) Chambers of Ft. Mill, SC, Chris Hinton of VA, Michael Hinton of Savannah, GA, Jimmy Hinton and Carol Goodwin, both of Baltimore; 13 great – grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, Michael Anthony. Friends may call on Thursday, April 23 from 6 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD, where his funeral service will be held on Friday, April 24 at 1 PM. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
