D

onald H. “Don” Jump, age 80 and a resident of Gambrills, MD, died May 22, 2025 at Sunrise of Annapolis. Born in Washington, DC on October 15, 1944 to the late Herbert and Agnes Jump, he graduated from Surrattsville High School in 1962 and joined the US Army, where he served in Viet Nam. Don was a civil servant in the federal government for more than 30 years until his retirement in 1996. He worked for the Department of Agriculture, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and ended his career as the Budget Officer for the U.S. Office of Government Ethics. After his retirement, Don was a volunteer at Hospice of the Chesapeake and a dedicated volunteer and fundraiser at Anne Arundel Medical Center for more than 20 years. He loved to travel and took many trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Italy and the Greek Isles. Don also was a very talented floral designer for Vince's Agnes Flower Shop of Silver Spring, Maryland. He was known throughout the Washington area for his beautiful wedding designs. Don is survived by his domestic partner, Gerald Mainer; his sister, Diane Minear; his nieces, Jennifer Minear (Jason Hull), Elizabeth Harrison and Rebecca Harrison; his nephew, James Harrison; and a multitude of loving family members and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 21 from 1-4 PM at the Atreeum at Soaring Timbers, 610 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment will be private.
