Donald Joseph Malkie - Obituary

onald "Don" Joseph Malkie, 88, of Edgewater passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 after a lengthy illness . Don was born on December 25, 1929 in Washington, DC to the late Harold and Agnes Malkie. He graduated from high school in Hyattsville, and went on the attend the University of Maryland. Don served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Ducks Unlimited and the West River Yacht Club. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood carving and his Dachshunds. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, of 61 years Marguerite Malkie and a brother Delmar Malkie. He is survived by his son, Timothy (Donna)Malkie of Edgewater; three grandsons, Matthew (Mindy) Malkie of Ohio, Andrew (Melinda) Malkie of Florida, Thomas (Rebecca) Malkie of Pennsylvania; and seven great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jack, Isabella, Hannah, Vincent, Benjamin and Michael Malkie. Friends are invited to celebrate Don's life on Wednesday, October 3 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, October 4 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 101 Owensville Road, West River, MD.
