onald William Monaghan, Jr., known to his family as “Pop” passed away at his home on October 13, 2025. He was 75 years old.
Donald was born on January 17, 1950 to the late Donald William Monaghan and Wilma Monaghan.
After graduating from Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School, he went on to serve in the United States Army from November 1969 through July 1991 as a Utility Helicopter Technical Inspector. During his time in the Army, he honorably served in the Vietnam War and was proud to be a Vietnam Veteran.
Following his honorable retirement from the Army, Donald worked as a handyman. He enjoyed fishing, going out on the boat, spending time with his grandkids, working on cars, and caring for his dogs.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Nancy Lee Monaghan.
He is survived by his six children Robert (Tanya) Lee of Peoria, Arizona, Michelle (John) Taylor of Bunker Hill, West Virginia, Ronald (Roxanne) Lee of Glen Burnie, MD, Carrie (Todd) Jackson of Hamilton, VA, Shannon (Robbie) Monaghan-Ramey of Southern Maryland, and Donald (Jennifer) W. Monaghan III of Davidsonville, MD, his grandsons which include his namesake Donald William Monaghan IV, and Robert III, Brian, Jacob, Nicholas, Macky, Rocky, Johnny, Tyler, Ronald Jr., Donald Scott, his granddaughters Melissa, Lee Ann, Vivian, Kierstyn, Nichole, and Madysen, his 15 great grandchildren including his namesake Donald William Monaghan V, his siblings Michael “Tony”, Angela “Angel”, Donna, Kathleen “Kathy”, and Kevin.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Donald’s life on Saturday, November 22 from 1 to 2 PM where his funeral service will begin at 2 PM at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road Edgewater, MD 21037. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
