Donald G. Routten - Obituary

onald G. Routten, 69, of Shady Side passed away on January 14, 2017 from complications from a fall. Don was born on May 15, 1947 in Bethesda, MD to the late John and Charlotte Routten. He graduated from Wheaton High School in 1967 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he fought in Vietnam. He worked for many years as a tour and coach driver for DC Trails and Gold Line. Don was a member of the Marlboro Moose Lodge, the Deale Elks Lodge, and the American Legion. He was passionate about the SPCA and enjoyed walking and training his dogs. Don was also a Civil War "gray" enthusiast and made many explorations to battlefields. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Routten, and his dogs, Beau and Dixie. He is survived by his wife, of 22 years, Roxanna Routten; and his dog, Bailey. Friends are invited to celebrate Don's life on Saturday, February 4, at 1 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD.
