Donald Smith - Obituary

onald Lee Smith, 83, of Annapolis, MD was born on May 4, 1927 in Washington, D.C. to Walter J. Smith and Mary M. Hosken. He grew up in Hyattsville, MD and graduated from Hyattsville High School in 1944. In 1945 he joined the Navy and was stationed in San Francisco and Pearl Harbor. Upon discharge he attended the University of Maryland. In 1948 Don went to work for Roberts Brothers Company in Washington, D.C. as an automotive parts salesman. He remained at Roberts Brothers for 38 years and retired in 1986. Shortly after retiring he joined the firm of Engines and Components and worked there until 2003. He is a member of Mt. Herman Masonic Lodge in Hyattsville, MD, the American Legion in Greenbelt, MD and the Fleet Reserve in Annapolis, MD. Don enjoyed golf, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Smith, whom he married in 1950, one son, Glenn Smith and his wife, Trudy of Millsboro, DE, one daughter, Leanne Titcomb and her husband Tim of Marriottsville, MD six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to Don's Life Celebration on Thursday, December 16 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM at George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment private.
