D

onald Tullis was the oldest of five boys born to John and Gladys Tullis on September 25, 1951 in Clayton, Alabama. He graduated Jones High School in Orlando, Florida. He attended Electronics School in Tampa, Florida. During the Vietnam War, he volunteered and joined the Navy. He was assigned to the USS Eisenhower stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He retired from the military and was in the Reserves. After his military service he became a civilian employee with the Department of Defense for over forty years until his promotion to be with the Lord. He worked part time security for Securtias Security for over ten years. Don was all about his family. He was married to Lucy Hobbs-Tullis for 49 years, they have one daughter Dawn Tullis (Dumfries, Virginia) and two grandsons, John Wynston Tullis (Woodbridge, Virginia), Jakari Tullis (Dumfries, Virginia). He has one brother Walter Tullis who resides in Eufaula, Alabama. Two sister-in-laws: Minnie Woodard (Orlando, FL), and Wylie Bailey (Alton) Orlando, FL. Four brother-in-laws: James Hobbs (Debbie) Orlando, FL, Dr. Leonard Hobbs (Charlotte) Orlando, FL, Pastor Joe Cecil Hobbs (Sylvia) Orlando, FL, Eldolgie Crawford (Deceased “Ann”). Extended family member Troy Hatcher of Dumfries, Virginia. Don, enjoyed taking care of his lawn. His pride was his garden even if it didn’t always grow in abundance as he thought it should. He was often quoted saying “not going to grow, not going to keep watering you”. His grandsons are his pride and joy, he didn’t spoil them, and he loved them. Don, had a big heart. He had a strong spiritual spirit. His belief in God was unwavering. When he was near death he said, “He’s waiting on me.” He was loved and will be missed by all whose lives and hearts he touched.
