Donald Lee Williams - Obituary

onald Lee Williams, 73, a lifelong resident of Edgewater, MD, died on November 15, 2023, at MedStar Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Born June 25, 1950 in Annapolis, MD to the late James E. and Lena E. Williams, he worked as a utility worker, waterman, and entrepreneur. Donald honorably served his country in the U.S. Army in the 8th Engineer Battalion, 1st Calvary Division. He was a longtime member of American Legion Post 226 and enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, hunting, camping, and travel. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Kersey. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cheryl L. Williams; a son, Preston H. Williams and his wife, Heather Fleegle-Williams of Edgewater, MD; and two grandchildren, Preston L. and Taylor J. Williams. A funeral service, with military honors, will be held on Tuesday, November 21, at 11:30 AM at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, MD. A celebration of Donald's life will be held at American Legion Post 226, 830 Mayo Road, Edgewater, MD at a later date.
