Donald Winchell - Obituary

n February 16, 2012, Don Winchell, 63, of Chester, formerly of Edgewater passed away at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born March 15, 1948 in Baraboo, WI to the late Oscar and Helen Winchell, Don proudly served his country in the US Navy “Seabees” during Viet Nam. He owned and operated Alpha 1 concrete until he began working for Langenfelder Marine, Inc. in Love Point. Until his death, he was an operating engineer for Crane Rental Local #77 in Washington, DC. Don enjoyed operating cranes and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Winchell; two daughters, Sheri (Tim) Stevens of Ellicott City and Sonja (Mark) Harding of Henderson; eight grandchildren, Robert, Ashley, Jessica, Brooke, Lily, Shepard, Emma and Ryan and one brother Duane Winchell of Wisconsin. Friends are invited to Don’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomon’s Island Rd., Edgewater, on Monday, February 20, from 11am until his funeral service begins at 1pm. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Donations in his memory are recommended to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis, MD 21401.
