onna Louise Abbott passed away peacefully, at home, at the age of 66, on April 8, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted and attentive mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, co-worker, and friend, whose life was defined by kindness, strength, independence, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved. Raising her family was Donna’s greatest purpose and proudest accomplishment. She poured her heart and soul into loving and providing for her children and grandchildren, ensuring they always felt safe, supported, and deeply cherished. Through every season of life, she showed up with strength, guidance, and devotion, weathering through endless sacrifices. Her love was constant and steady, a foundation her children and grandchildren could always stand on. The values she instilled, the care she gave, and the example she set will continue to live on through them every day. In her early years, Donna enjoyed a prosperous career at the Department of Transportation, where she was known for her work ethic and dedication. Lifelong relationships were made and Donna was very fortunate to enjoy those friendships long after retirement and up until her final days. Later in life, Donna built a fruitful life in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina filled with the people she loved most. More than anything, Donna cherished time spent with family and friends. She had a special gift for bringing people together, hosting gatherings filled with laughter, a nice meal, and unforgettable memories. Most recently, Donna moved back home to Fredericksburg, VA to be closer to family. She was fortunate to have the loving care of her children, sister and brother, and their families, all who embodied and abled her determination for independence. Wherever Donna was, her heart and home was surely always open, a place where the party happened and life was truly at ease. Donna found joy in life’s most simple and beautiful moments. She had a deep love for art, often expressing creativity through colors and visuals that reflected both her vibrant spirit and peaceful nature. Whether it was creating and crafting with her children, painting with her grandchildren, watching them dance, or cheering them on at their games, sharing puzzles with her siblings, or building antique amusement replicas for all to enjoy, she was passionate about creating life’s eternal memories. Donna was preceded in death by her father, Donald Clarke, Sr. She is survived by her loving daughter Jennifer Farmer (Jeremy) and son, Joseph Abbott, Jr. (Ashley), grandchildren Jayla and Jemma Farmer, and Joseph III and Nash Abbott, as well as her mother Helen Clarke, siblings Don Clarke (Ellen), Rick Clarke (Rebecca), Patty Buchanan (Jeffrey), and Joe Clarke (Lynn), and an abundance of nieces and nephews, all who will rejoice in her legacy of love, resilience, and togetherness. Family and Friends are invited to celebrate Donna's life on Saturday, April 25, from 5 pm until her funeral service begins at 6:30 at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment will be private. Family asks that flowers be sent to Kalas to honor her love of beauty, and any donations be made to Compassus Hospice of Fredericksburg, 100 Riverside Pkwy, Suite 203, Fredericksburg, VA 22406, or that you honor Donna by gathering with loved ones and holding them close, just as she always did.
