onna Marie Hummer, age 69, a resident of Annapolis for more than fifty years, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 6 at her home. Born on February 14, 1944 in Washington, D.C., Donna graduated from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville. She was an oral surgeon assistant for more than twenty years and she owned and operated Hummer Pottery for more than forty years, during which time she attained the status of Master Potter. Donna was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Pottery Guild of Annapolis. She was an avid Redskin’s fan and in her spare time she enjoyed sailing, especially racing Hobie Cats with Fleet 54 in Annapolis. She also enjoyed kayaking, gardening and Tai Chi, but most of all Donna loved to spend time with her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas A. Bligh and her sister, Debra Braunstein. Donna is survived by her husband, Paul Hummer; two sons, Wes Hummer and his wife, Susan and Dave Hummer and his wife Gina all of Annapolis; her mother, Rita Lucile Bligh of Silver Spring; grandchildren, Leah Marie, David, Benjamin and Alyssa Hummer and Kayla Hooper, and her dog, Abbey. Family and friends are invited to Donna’s Life Celebration from 2:00 to 5:00 pm on Saturday, August 10 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation, Breast Center, 2001 Medical Pkwy., Annapolis, MD 21401 (give.aahs.org).
