Donna Wharton - Obituary

onna Lee Wharton, 47, a resident of Edgewater since 1987 and previously of South County for 25 years, died suddenly of natural causes on March 21, 2012. She was born on April 9, 1964 in Troy, NY to Seth and Joan Honeyman. Donna was a graduate of Sienna College in New York and earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from Catholic University. She devoted her career to helping patients and families at the Hospice of the Chesapeake. Donna enjoyed being outdoors and working in her garden. Her passion though was spending time with her family and being a best friend to all those she knew. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael T.Wharton, who died in 2002. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her fiancé, Larry Wertz of Edgewater; two daughters, Chelsea Wharton of Edgewater and Michala (Edward) Betz of Buffalo, NY; and two brothers, Olen and Michael Honeyman. Friends are invited to Donna’s Life Celebration on Friday, March 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 10 a.m. Inurnment immediately following at Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
