e invite you to join us celebrating the life of our mother Sue Meyer who entered Heaven on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at the age of 78. Her cheerful spirit and desire to impact and serve others will be sorely missed. Although her last years have been very challenging for her, she always wanted to be content wherever she was.
Sue will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Beth (Donald) Sherwin of Bolingbrook, IL, Laura ( Eric) Mahaffey of Annapolis, MD, Davin Meyer of Blaine, PA and Jonathan (Gwen) Meyer of Lothian, MD. She is also missed by her brother Lawrence (JoAnne) Strope of Wheaton, IL, and her sister Joyce (Rai) Graubergs of Somonauk, IL.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jim. She was born and grew up in Illinois and attended Northern Illinois University, majoring in Home Economics education. She loved being a homemaker, caring for her family, and supporting her husband in ministry to others. They moved to Maryland in 1971, and Sue lived in Edgewater until several years after Jim’s death in 2010. She was a talented seamstress and ran a sewing business out of her home until surgery for a brain tumor in 2013. She also loved cooking and helping homeschool her grandchildren in art and history. She was active in church for many years as a Sunday school teacher and involved in ladies’ ministry. She trusted Christ alone for her salvation and looked forward to Heaven as her eternal home.
