D

oris Owen Jentilet, 89, a 57-year resident of Davidsonville and previously of Glen Burnie, MD, passed away on September 22, 2016, after a lengthy battle with dementia. Born on September 5, 1927, in Baltimore, MD to the late Arthur and Nettie Owen, Doris graduated from Western High School. She went to work as a laboratory technician at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore and also worked as a bank teller. Doris was active in the local YMCA and particularly enjoyed attending its Thursday Night Club. She was also very active in her church and volunteered at the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s Mission Unit. In 1958, Doris married Adam Jentilet, and devoted herself to providing a comfortable home for her husband and their six children. When her family was young, Doris worked for H&R Block during tax season. After all her children were in school full time, she went to work for and eventually retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier. Doris was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where she continued to be active in the Lazarus Committee and as a long-time collection counter. Among her many other interests, Doris enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, baking, gardening, traveling, breeding dogs, and watching and feeding wild birds. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Breiner and son-in-law, Joseph Mahony. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Adam Jentilet; two sons, Douglas (Janet) Jentilet of Knoxville, TN and Mark Jentilet of Millersville, MD; four daughters, Mary Jentilet of Davidsonville, Kathleen Mahony of Westminster, MD, Diane (Yuri Rosenberg) Jentilet of Bethesda, MD and Jean Jentilet of Apex, NC; one sister, Jane Dukovic; one brother, Tommy Owen; one grandson, Nathan Rosenberg; and seven granddaughters, Ashley (Matt) McKinney, Samantha Ritts, Heather, Jessica and Sarah Jentilet, Meghan Mahony and Rachel Rosenberg. Friends are invited to celebrate Doris’ life with her family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 25 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 26 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 West Central Avenue, Davidsonville. Interment at Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
