oris L. Rice 1953-2009 Doris L. Rice was born on September 5, 1953, to the late Wade and Dorothy Perry of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Doris was the fourth of six children from their union. Her siblings include the late Anetha Perry Smith, Valegene Nelson, Wayne Perry, Levoid Dexter Perry and Delton Perry. Doris received her education through public schools by attending Moten Elementary School, Douglass Junior High School, and Anacostia High School. She went on to attend Howard University where she studied to become a Dental Hygienist. After graduating from Howard in 1974, Doris started her professional career as a Dental Hygienist and has excelled in her field for over 34 years. Doris started her family on August 6, 1976, with her first child, Tamika White. Doris continued to grow her family with the birth of her sons Ronald Bocus on December 6, 1982 and Christopher Bocus on November 25, 1984. Doris devoted her life to her children and raised them to be kind and respectable adults. Doris lived her life to its' fullest potential. Her family, especially her children and grandchildren, was her number one priority. Spending time with them brought joy and happiness to her life. Doris also enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and abroad. She also loved riding horses, gardening, baking, knitting, shopping and spending time with friends and family. Doris was preceded in death by her parents Wade and Dorothy Perry and her sister Anetha Perry Smith. Doris is survived by her children Tamika White, Ronald Bocus and Christopher Bocus, one son-in-law Michael White and three grandchildren Rodney, Ryanne and Michael White. She is also survived by her siblings Valegene Nelson, Wayne, Levoid Dexter, and Delton Perry, sister-in-law Darlene Perry; nieces and nephews Vondell Smith, Cornelius Nelson, Dominique Perry, Darmetria Perry, Dexter Perry, Dexten Perry, Dexton Perry, Darletra Perry and Darlena Perry. Doris also had four great nieces: Jasmine Smith, Khalia Smith, Amaya Nelson and Alicia Nelson. Doris is also survived by a host of extended family and friends. Doris accepted Christ at an early age and demonstrated her love for the Lord throughout her life. She transitioned to eternal life with Christ on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at home in North Potomac, Maryland. She lived life on her own terms until her last breath. Doris will be remembered for her strong, loving spirit and she will be missed, but not forgotten. Family and friends are invited to Doris's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Home, P.A. 6160 Oxon Hill Rd, Oxon Hill MD on Saturday, June 13,2009, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Interment private.
