Dorothy Basil - Obituary

orothy O. Basil, 96; a 15-year resident of Steamboat Springs, CO and an 81-year resident of Annapolis, MD, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2016. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Rudy Basil; one brother, Richard Owens; one sister, Estelle Milburn; her mother, Hazel Owens and her father, Alvin Owens. She is survived by one daughter, Diane Zahradnik of Steamboat Springs, CO; one son, Chip Basil of Edgewater, MD; three grandchildren, Lori Sears of Steamboat Springs, CO, Geoffrey (Geo) & Trevor Basil both of Edgewater, MD; and three great-grandchildren. Dot spent 35 years employed as the secretary to the Senate of Maryland. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting and spending time with her family. The family welcomes visitors for a viewing on March 5, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a Christian Service to follow from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment immediately following the service at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD.
