ur beloved mother Dorothy Nancy Swann Grillo was born on May 23, 1923 and passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010. She was the only child born to Mertis Swann and Reverend Head of Atmore Alabama. She was raised by her grandparents Maprell and Willie Swann in Enon, Georgia. In 1942, Dorothy married Willie Horace Roseberry Jr and out of this union were born five children; Constance, Nancy, Clydie, Horace and Cynthia Roseberry. Later in her life she married Anivil Grillo and spent many happy years. Dorothy, in her early years, was an honor student and graduate of Washington High in Atlanta Georgia. She graduated with honors and was the recipient of a full scholarship to Clark College. During her matriculation at Clark, she majored in Foreign Languages with a major in French. In the early years, she worked as a Chemist at a local Mill in Atlanta, Georgia. She spent the majority of her life as a devoted mother and PTA member, ensuring the success of her children. In the mid 1950''s Dorothy and her family moved to Washington DC. Both she and her husband Horace worked for many years for the US Post Office and later retired. Throughout her life she was devoted to her children and grand children. She enjoyed the family vacations and family fishing trips with her late husband Grillo. Dorothy lived a full life as a devoted mother always caring for her children. She thought of her children as her five jewels. She is survived by her son Horace, daughters Connie, Nancy, Clydie and Cynthia. Sons-in-law, Late Robert, Richard, Frank, Paul and David. Grandchildren, Bobby, Damani, Adhana, Omar, Jamal, Jaha, Aaron, Marie, Shannon, Morgan and great grandchildren, Damani, Autumn, Little Jamal, Shane, Troy Ayana and Miles. Other extended family and friends. Friends are invited to Dorothy''s Life Celebration on Wednesday, March 17 from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. from St. Columba Catholic, 7800 Livingston Rd., Oxon Hill, MD.
