Dorothy L. Rodgers - Obituary

orothy L. Rodgers, “Hot Dot”, 105, a 35-year resident of Edgewater, and previously of Eastport, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 24, 1916 in Annapolis, MD to the late Violet and Joe Hopkins, Sr. She worked for Polan’s Five & Dime for 15 years and then in 1977 she went to work for Farmers National Bank, where she retired at the age 62. Dorothy loved to go to the Senior Center in Edgewater and her interests included, crossword puzzles, playing cards, crocheting, but her favorite pastime was eating hard crabs and drinking Miller Lite. In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her husband William Rodgers, her brothers, Joe, Jimmy and George Hopkins. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Anderson of Edgewater, her grandchildren Brian Anderson, Ervin Anderson, Jr. and Lori Sullivan. She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dorothy's amazing life on Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 4 pm until 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037.
